CAL and Parks and Recreation Join Forces
_CAL has proposed in its grant request to the city of Conroe that the league expand its outreach to other groups in the area. The group we have targeted is the young people involved in the Conroe Parks and Recreation Dept.'s art activities. These week-long art adventures occur several times a year. We have invited the groups to display their art work from the Multi-Arts Camp and Abby’s Place at the gallery for one week-end at the close of each camp, with a small reception for the parents during the exhibition. The groups will also be invited to tour the gallery during their camps.
In addition to the shows, we have committed to volunteering at Kidz Fest March 31. This is fun. Please join us by working a two-hour shift in support of the wonderful art programs run by the Parks and Recreation Dept.
Jamie Blair, director of the above mentioned activities, is also hoping some of our members will be interested in being a guest artist at some of the Abby’s Place art classes. Please let Kathleen Rowland know if you are interested in spending a few hours over a period of time working with 9-12 year old children who are really interested in art.
NOTE: Some dates may change.
Dates for receptions: Abby’s Place - 3/20 or 3/21 to be determined
Summer Multi-Art Camps
Friday, June 15 4-6 pm
Friday, June 22 4-6 pm
Friday, July 20 4-6 pm
Friday, July 27 4-6 pm
Fall: Abby’s Place either Dec. 7 or 8th

RETT Project
UPDATE: The piece had over 1000 signatures on the back once it was complete. Clint Black, Kevin Black, Kevin Brady, Rett families, friends, supporters and many others left their own special mark on the mural. It brought $7500 at auction to benefit ongoing research to find a cure for Rett.
