Participate, Share, and Celebrate the Arts

GALLERY HOURS

There is a change in the gallery hours. The new hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

New docent shift times are 11:00 - 1:30 and 1:30 - 4:00.

 

The gallery will be closed Saturday, July 3rd , for the Independence Day holiday.

HOMESCHOOL CLASS ART SHOW

Rebekah Billings’ homeschool class art show was a big success. The students invited their family and friends to view their work.

 

Refreshments were served and the children were treated to an art demo by Cindy Rae Fancher on the art of tangling.

 

CAL & THE COMMUNITY

The "Stampede" banner, by Lois Blackburne, was received by Allison Winter representing the Montgomery County Republican Party and will hang in their renovated offices. 

IN MEMORIUM

We at Conroe Art League are very saddened to let you know that Kathleen Rowland, a long time member of CAL, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Kathleen served CAL in many capacities over the years and was instrumental in the league's moving into the Madeley Building.  Many of us have fond memories and stories about Kathleen.  Read here about Kathleen receiving Excellence in the Visual Arts Award.

Kathleen's family suggests that donations be made to Conroe Art League as an expression of sympathy. An acknowledgment will be sent to the family. You can make a memorial donation here.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 25th, at 10:00 am at the McNutt Funeral Home (1703 Porter Rd, Conroe TX 77301).

CREATE HOPE

The University of St. Thomas has opened an art competition themed "Hope" for members of CAL . The university will select three pieces to hang in their new micro campus located in downtown Conroe. Watch for an email with detailed information coming soon. The Deadline for our members will be in September.

 
 

JULY TAKE-IN/OUT

July take-in/take-out: Tuesday, July 6th from 10:30 to 4:00. 

 Please register on line and sign up for your docent shift prior to dropping off your artwork (here)

ART IN THE CITY

Register (here) for July through August AITC locations.

No docent shift required.

 

The May People’s Choice and Summer Banner winner goes to "The Spirit Owl" by George Bramlett.

MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING

The next general meeting and reception will be held on July 10th. The general meeting will be at 4:00 pm followed by an art demo by Doug Hiser. 

Reminder: There will be no longer be zoom general meetings

(until further notice).

ARTIST RECEPTION

The July reception will be held on Saturday, the 10th,

from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, after the general meeting.

 

Student Raffle

Be sure to get your tickets for the June raffle item. It is a gift certificate for a one hour massage at Elements Massage and a Well-being gift set which includes hand cream, bath soap, body balm and pillow mist.

Support Montgomery County high school seniors and the student art awards by making a donation to be included in the drawing.

    Mark your calendar for the Wearable Art and Home Décor “Trunk Show” that is scheduled for the month of August.
