The Madeley Building – We finally have water back in the building, but unfortunately it will be several more weeks before the elevator is repaired. If you are carrying your art supplies up and down the stairs, please be careful and ask for assistance if needed. You might consider using the courtyard stairs as they are not as steep and have a landing half way up. A few of our plants in the courtyard survived the winter and things are starting to look nice again – grab a coffee or lunch to go and join a friend in the courtyard.

Under the direction of Vickie McMillan-Hayes, 40 members of the community came together on March 8th during four painting sessions to create this mural with a nod to the history of the city of Conroe. All ages, from children to senior adults, participated in the creation of this 4’ by 8’ painting. The Mayor of Conroe, the City Administrator and the Downtown Manager all added their own paint strokes as well. The mural will be donated to the City of Conroe to place in one of their buildings.

April Take-in – April is a show for all Spring Judged Show winners. Members with artwork that won ribbons in the Spring Judged Show (Best of Show, Best Floral, Best Landscape, and First, Second, Third, and First Honorable Mention in each category) may bring their work in to the gallery on Tuesday, April 6th, between 10:30 and 4:00. There will be no hanging fee but you will need to schedule one docent shift per piece. Since the show was held virtually, this will be a good opportunity to show your art in person.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED April 24th and May 8th
|
|
Join fellow CAL members in hosting the “Face Painting” booth at Kidz Fest this year. The children love this event and every year there is a long line at the CAL face painting booth. Due to COVID, this year the children will be required to wear a mask while they are painted, and you will be painting their arm or hand instead of their face. Not interested in painting children? Volunteers are needed for the craft booth as well.
If you know Junior or Senior High School teens that would like to volunteer at Kidzfest let them know they can receive a letter of community service hours to add to their college portfolio.
The event is being held on April 24th in downtown Conroe and we need to fill two shifts of volunteer painters. We need 15 volunteers per shift, so grab a friend (or two) and join in the fun. Please contact Judi Lanza by calling or texting 936-203-2423 or by email at judilanza@aol.com.

CAL will be participating in the Market Street Fine Arts Show on May 8th with a booth to distribute CAL literature. Volunteers are needed for two hour shifts beginning at 8:00am and ending at 8:00pm. One of the benefits of volunteering is the opportunity to hang/sell your artwork in the booth. Please contact Jullie Jones at 832-326-6316 or education@conroeartleague.com if you are interested in participating in this fun event.
