GALLERY HOURS

Remember: the new hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

New docent shift times are 11:00 - 1:30 and 1:30 - 4:00.

REMINDER: 

 The gallery will be open late on Tuesday, Nov. 30th for the Christmas On Main celebration, following the Conroe Christmas Tree Lighting.

GUESS WHAT'S BACK?

People’s Choice has a new name. It's the Juan Cantavella Award beginning with the November 2021 show and is funded through May of 2023 thanks to the generous donations from an anonymous CAL member, Mary and Charles Peterson, and Judi Lanza, Owner/Director, The Art of Music Studio -School of Music & Art.

MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING

The next general meeting will be held on  Saturday, December 4th, at 4:00pm.

ARTIST RECEPTION

The December reception will be Saturday the 4th, from 6:00 to 8:00, after the general meeting.

DECEMBER TAKE-IN/OUT

The next take-in/take-out will be Tuesday, November 30th. from 10:30 - 4:00. 

Be sure to register online and sign up for your docent shift prior to dropping off your artwork (here). Registration is required online and not later than Monday evening, 8:00pm, November 29th.

FEATURE WALL ARTIST

 

The November Feature Wall Artist is David Bartell Please come by during December to see his works.

Kristine Schneider's piece "Covenants in the Wilderness" was chose as the best oil painting for a show in November at the Center for Contemporary Arts, Abilene, TX.

The Jennings Daily News, Jennings, LA, published in two-parts “The Story of Robert Anthony “Tony” Reed” by Ken Roy.  It is the first of five stories in a series titled “Brothers Beyond the Perimeter”.

This group is open to all members as well as non-members and is a great way to stay engaged in all things art.

12X12 TIME IS APPROACHING

 

Support Montgomery County high school seniors in their artistic pursuits.  Our members are busy creating their original 12x12 art pieces to donate to this good cause. 

Panels are due at the January take-in.  If your panel is ready you may turn it in to Debra Riley early.  Release forms must be completed and attached to the back.  Release forms are available at the docent desk.

CAL NATIONAL HAS GONE INTERNATIONAL

The CAL National has spread it's reach and for next year's show, on view March 1st, international applicants will now be accepted. In fact, we have already received applications from Japan and Indonesia.

The call for artist is open and ready for entries. The deadline for the show will be December 10, 2021. Enter your drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, and/or 3D here.

CLASSROOM IMPROVEMENTS

Have you been in to see the new window coverings in the classroom? You can even see them from the street.

Black out panels were made for the classroom with images of our members art facing out for all to see from blocks away.

Mark your calendar: 

 The Montgomery County Choral Society is holding a Christmas concert on December 11th at 7:00 pm at First Methodist Church in Conroe.  Www.mcchoral.org.

The Conroe Symphony Orchestra will perform a Matinee Christmas Concert at the Willis ISD Performing Arts Center on December 18th.

GREATER CONROE ARTS FESTIVAL - RISING STARS & LEGENDS OF TEXAS

Saturday, March 19, 2022 - 10:00am-5:00pm at Founder's Park in Downtown Conroe.

Welcome Artists!  We are excited to offer juried space for fine art artists to display and sell their art at the Greater Conroe Arts Festival-Rising Stars & Legends.  Artists will need to provide a 10' x 10' tent (preferably white) with straight legs and weights.  Sign up deadline is February 1, 2022.  

Some of the Festival highlights are Vickie McMillan Hayes will be there for a collaborative mural, Juan Cantavella and friends will be painting live models throughout the day, and Nancy Paris Pruden, Fran Ellisor and friends will be painting Plein Air.  There will be silent auctions for all pieces painted at the Festival.  We have many other highlights represented for all of the Arts (music, art, dance, theatre & more) for children and adults.
