Participate, Share, and Celebrate the Arts

GALLERY HOURS

We are open Tuesday through Saturday

from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Docent shifts are 11:00 - 1:30 and 1:30 - 4:00.

The gallery will be open for Thirsty Thursday on April 21st

The gallery will be staying open until 7:00.

HELP!

We need volunteers for the last week of April.

If you haven't signed up because of Docent training, there is good news - Donna Rodgers and Brenda McDougall will be holding a session on Tuesday the 19th at 6pm.  Contact docentcoordinator@conroeartleague.com to sign up for training.

SCHOOL US WITH YOUR ART

(Students)

Conroe Art League will award almost $11,000 at the Student Awards Show scheduled for Saturday, May 7, from 6 to 8 PM. As many as ten monetary awards may be awarded in the show category. For a chance to win one of these awards, fill out this registration form and turn it in with the artwork on Friday May 5th. For quicker registration, feel free to do so online.

In addition to the open show, there will be a $500 award for the Adrianne Gerlach Memorial Art Scholarship for best western/wildlife art. 

CAL is introducing this year a new award in the amount of $300 for the Sherry Wagner Memorial Award for the theme Forever Cats.  

A student does not have to be present to win. (But it would be nice!)

SPRING INTO SOME FUN

Join us for the CAL Public Art Bike Ride on April 17th.  We will visit more than 20 works of public art along the beautiful Woodlands Waterway and Lake Woodlands. Enjoy commentary by Randall Cade and visit with other outdoor art enthusiast. For more information click here. Can't make it? Not to worry, there are more dates in the works.

Please come in during the month of April to pick your favorite piece of art for the May award.

MAY TAKE-IN/OUT

May Take-In/Out will be Tuesday, May 3rd, from 11 am - 4 pm. 

Be sure to register online and sign up for your docent shift prior to dropping off your artwork (here). Registration is required online and not later than Monday evening, 8:00pm, May 2nd.

MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING

The next general meeting will be held on

 Saturday, May 7th, at 4:00pm.

The raffle item for the May drawing is being donated by Debra Riley and is a surprise until the meeting day.  Willing to take a chance?  Buy your ticket now.  Want to play it safe?  Purchase your ticket at the May general meeting.

ARTIST RECEPTION

The May reception will be Saturday the 7th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Winners of the Student Awards will be announced at the reception.

LEARN FROM THE BEST

 

Carolina Dalmas is showing her art in the Our Women exhibit at Art Museum TX located in Sugarland during the months of April and May.  Location is 1615 City Walk, Sugarland. 

Get to hear Carolinas top tips in her workshop at the end of the month.

Susan Hotard’s piece, Umbrella Shade,  was juried into the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society Best of America Small Painting 2022. If you are in Birmingham, Alabama, April 28 - May 27, visit the Beverly McNeil Gallery.

The Greater Conroe Arts Festival was a huge success.  Thank you Judi Lanza for organizing this event and all the CAL members that participated in making it the success it was.  Mark your calendar for next year’s festival - March 18, 2023

Conroe Symphony Orchestra presents The Earth has Music for Those Who Listen on April 23rd at 7:30pm at the West Conroe Baptist Church.  Get tickets at ConroeSymphony.org.

Conroe Symphony Spring Fling at Amore on Lake Conroe, May 1st from 3:00-5:00pm.  $75 per person.  More information at ConroeSymphony.org.

Kidz Fest is being held on April 30th from 10:00am to 5:00pm in downtown Conroe.  This event is sponsored by the City of Conroe and the children’s Art Village is in need of volunteers.  The children love the art village an especially the face painting.  If you can help give these children joy, by working one of the two shifts please contact Judy Lanza at 936-756-8777.
