AWARD UPDATES

JUAN CANTAVELLA AWARD – Is given every month, with the exception of March. All adult members have the opportunity to win the Juan Cantavella Award of Excellence.  We have added in the month in which the 12x12 show hangs.  Two additional awards will be given – 2nd place Award of Distinction, and 3rd place Award of Merit.  The Juan Cantavella Award of Excellence will receive the $400 cash prize and the other two will receive ribbons.  All winners may display their art in the gallery for the following month.  The winner of the Juan Cantavella Award of Excellence becomes eligible to win the Banner Award.

BANNER AWARD – A banner winner will continue to be selected four times a year, however, the winning art will be chosen from the monthly winners of the Juan Cantavella Award of Excellence.  The Board will engage a judge to select the winning art.  This program began with the June 2022 show and the next banner will be chosen from the June, July, and August winners of the Juan Cantavella Award of Excellence.  The artwork chosen will be enlarged and displayed  in the CAL courtyard for approximately 3 months or until the next banner winner is selected and the banner made.  Banner awards will be announced at the September, December, March and June general meetings.

Please visit the gallery during the month of July to pick your favorite piece of art for this award.
