Participate, Share, and Celebrate the Arts

GALLERY HOURS

We are open Tuesday through Saturday

from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Docent shifts are 11:00 - 1:30 and 1:30 - 4:00.

The gallery will be open for Sip N Shop on August 25th

The gallery will be staying open until 7:00.

COME ON OVER!

 

ARTISTS IN ACTION

Sign up to be one of the "Artists In Action".  Each month on the last Thursday of the month the gallery is open late for the downtown Conroe event "Sip and Shop" (formerly Thirsty Thursday).  As an Artist In Action you will be working on a current project in the gallery for the general public to view.  Any art that you can work on in the gallery is eligible (sculpting, card and jewelry making, painting, etc). This monthly event is limited to 4 artists each month.  Artist must be a CAL member and provide all their own supplies/equipment and clean up when finished.  Artist are expected to be working on their art in the gallery from 4:00 to 7:00 and may bring samples of their art for sale.  (Note:  if you cannot be there right at 4pm that is ok).  All sales will go through the CAL system with 20% going to CAL. 

The goal is to get more visitors in the gallery, sell more of your work and get to know your fellows CAL member in a fun and creative way.

This Sip & Shop event will be available for Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov. and Dec..  To sign up for August, click here.  To sign up for future months, find the date on the calendar and click that link.  Please sign up for only one month to allow for more members to participate.   If you have any questions about the event please email Diane at calvicepresident@conroeartleague.com

Thank you for all those who have taken the time to sit for live drawing sessions. During one session this July Jackson Avedikian, Ken Roy's grandson, even lent a hand. We welcome models of all ages and sizes. So tell your grandchildren, children, and friends we are always in need to models.

MAGIC VOTING BOX

Visit the gallery in August and see show winners for July.  Winner of the Juan Cantavella Award of Excellence went to Patti Gary for her photography, Award of Distinction went to George Bramlett for his painting, and Juan Cantavella Award of Merit went to Juan Cantavella for his painting.

Please visit the gallery during the month of August to pick your favorite piece of art for this award.

SEPTEMBER TAKE-IN/OUT

Take-In/Out will be Tuesday, September 6th, from 11 am - 4 pm. 

Banner judging will take place that day, so winners for Juan Cantevella award in June, July and August need to make sure their art is at the gallery by 12 Noon.

Be sure to register online and sign up for your docent shift prior to dropping off your artwork (here). Registration is required online and not later than Monday evening, 8:00pm, August 1st.

STUDENT RAFFLE

 

Be sure to get your tickets for this month's raffle item

Support Montgomery County high school seniors and the student art awards by making a donation to participate in the drawing.

Purchase your tickets in person at the meeting.

 The raffle item for September will be donated by Terri Harris. Win this great snack plate by purchasing a ticket. 

 

MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING

 Saturday, September 10th, at 4:00 pm. 

 
 

Brenda McDougall will be demonstrate painting with Alcohol Inks at 5:00 pm (after the meeting).

ARTIST RECEPTION

The September reception will be Saturday the 10th, 

from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

2022 Around The World Camp

 

Rebekah Billing's art camp had another successful session. See these artists hard at work, learning about art in far away places.

2022 CAL FALL JUDGED SHOW

 

CAL will hold a virtual Fall Judged Show this year.  Entries will be taken through the Call For Entry site beginning August 21st.  Winners will be announced at the November General Meeting.  Mark your calendar for November 5th.  Watch for emails about submitting your art.

Kristine Schneider has been included in the NO DEAD ARTISTS: International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art.

Out of over 400 artists, 19 were chosen to participate. Kristine has 2 pieces in the gallery. The Jonathan Ferrara Gallery proudly hosts the 26th year of this exhibition. The opening reception in conjunction with the Arts District New Orleans' First Saturday Gallery Openings September 3, 2022, 6-9 pm.

As the grand prize, one jury-winning artist is awarded a solo exhibition at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery to take place the following year. Good Luck Kristine!

 
 
 
 
 

Many of our Conroe Art League members have been invited by Julie Verville of Ardest Gallery to exhibit for the monthly themed shows. The gallery is located in the Bella Bottega complex on Honea Egypt in Magnolia. The August show "Road Tripping" included the works of Charles Wallis, Kristine Scheider, Jennifer Claussen, Doni Langlois, and many more.

The show in September will be the 10th & 11th and is titled "Earth. Wind. Water. Fire. An Elemental Art Show" Saturday Opening Reception 5 - 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 - 4 p.m. Visit the gallery. Or the website to apply to be included in future shows.

The Greater Conroe Arts Alliance will be hosting their Annual Greater Conroe Arts Festival on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 from 10:00-4:00 at Founders Park in Downtown Conroe. You are invited to bring your family and friends to come spend the day with us! There will be food trucks, fine art for sale, live music, plus plenty of activities for all ages!
